<span style="color: #222222;">In Uttar Pradesh, locust swarms have invaded several districts in the last few days and attacked trees and crops in the state. The state Agriculture Department said reports of locust attacks were received from various districts including Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Prayag raj, Pratapgarh, Bhadohi ,Basti, Jalaun, Siddharthnagar , Kanpur Dehat , Kushinagar, Gorakhpur and Ambedkar Nagar.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the district  authorities of Hamirpur, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Mirzapur, Sultanpur, Mau, Firozabad ,Aligarh and Ballia  have been asked to remain vigil where locust swarms are on fly. The state agriculture minister SP Shahi said that the Uttar Pradesh government has given rupees 5 lakh to each of the bordering districts of the state for spraying chemicals to kill locusts. Apart from this, a monitoring committee has been formed in each district under the chief development officer to continuously monitor the situation.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The agriculture department has asked people that they should be attentive and inform the authorities on visibility of locust swarms. The department has fixed the duties of officials to have a vigil on movement of locust swarms in state . Fire department has been asked to make  smoke to chase the locust away.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In Basti district almost 500 villages have come inder the attack of locusts. Farmers drived out the insects by beating drums,Thaalis and other high sound producing items. At some places people  are using DJ sound systems to scare the locust swarms. Deoria District Magistrate Amit Kishor said a swarm spotted in the district had moved to Kushinagar.</span><br />
