In Uttar Pradesh, the state government has instituted Sant Ravidas Kala Samman Award in its efforts to promote cultural activities in the field of art. The state cabinet in its meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati approved the award. The award will include cash prize of 1 lakh 25 thousand rupees and a citation and it will be given every year to an artist, who had gained international or national recognition. A state-level committee headed by the chief secretary will be constituted for selection of artist. The cabinet has also accepted promulgation of Sant Ravidas Kala Samman Award Rulebook.<br/><br/> <br/>
