The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to increase the sugarcane support prices by Rs. 40 per quintal for this crushing season. The state today decided to give Rs. 210 per quintal for better sugar cane ( Agaiti Prajati) and Rs. 205 per quintal for ordinary sugar cane( Samanya Prajati). The Government has also fixed Rs. 200 per quintal for sugarcanes which are identified as unsuitable quality (Unupayukit ).U.P Chief Minster said her government believes that if any dispute arises due to the sugarcane support price the matter should be resolved with the approval of farmers.Meanwhile the farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait told media persons in Muzzafarnagar that the new purchase price is not sufficient. He reiterated his demand for minimum price of Rs. 280 per quintal and said that the strategy to press their demand will be finalized after discussion with farmers in Panchayat soon.
