Up-gradation of strike aircrafts underway in a big way: IAF Chief

The Indian Air Force is on the threshold of major modernization efforts. Speaking to reporters in Nagpur today, the Chief of Air Staff P VG Naik said that the up-gradation projects of strike aircrafts like Sukhoi 30, Mirage, MIG 29s is underway in a big way to increase their capabilities in the coming years. Commenting on the preparedness to counter any threats from India’s neighbours, the Air Chief said that development of Advanced Landing Grounds have been put on fast-track. Highlighting the electronic warfare aspects of the Air Force, the Air Chief said that efforts are being made to have more indigenous components to achieve self sufficieny. The Air Chief is in Nagpur to address the 2-day Annual Commanders Conference of Maintenance Command which began today.
