UP Govt wants National Horticulture Mission in through out state

The Uttar Pradesh Government has urged the Centre to launch National Horticulture Mission in all the 71 districts of the state to augment rural incomes and increase horticulture production. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports at present, NHM projects have been implemented in only 45 districts and it covers about 350 blocks out of total 820 in the state.<br/><br/>The State Government has also prepared a plan entailing investment of 117 crore rupees in the next fiscal for boosting horticulture activities in the impoverished Bundelkhand region. The proposed fund would be utilised for enhancing seed production, packing and grading of horticulture crops. The plan comprises 18 schemes with different funding pattern for the private parties. The government has submitted this plan for approval to the Centre under the National Horticulture Mission.<br/><br/>AIR Correspondent reports, recently Centre had given a special grant of 3,500 crore rupees for the composite development of the Bundelkhand region in the state.
