The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to suspend free boring schemes for irrigation in 108 blocks out of 820 in the state. The government has taken this decision in a bid to arrest the alarming decline in ground water level. The Minor Irrigation and Water Resource Minister of the state Paras Nath Yadav has said that the water level is depleting very fast in the state.AIR correspondent reports that the districts where water table was depleting fast include Agra, Saharanpur and Jyotiba Phole Nagar.
