UP govt to spend Rs 147 crore on police modernisation

In Uttar Pradesh, about 147 crore rupees has been released on modernisation and upgradation of police force in the state. Addressing a function to felicitate police personnel with gallantry awards at Lucknow today, Chief Minister Mayawati has said, her government has provided the sum with its own resources and it includes training equipment, arms and ammunition, communication and riot control devices. She said the government is installing computers at all police stations and all police stations will be inter-connected. In a bid to remove anomalies in different cadres of police department, she announced grade pay of constable to the post of additional sub-inspector has been increased from one hundred to 400 rupees. She said, the process of cadre review for gazetted police officers is also going on. Ms. Mayavati distributed gallantry awards to 106 police officers and personnel.
