In Uttar Pradesh, distribution of unemployment allowance to the youth begins on Sunday. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party National President Mulayam Singh Yadav will distribute cheques to the beneficiaries from seven districts of Lucknow, Unnao, Hardoi, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rae Bareli and Kanpur Nagar at a function in Lucknow.AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that about 10,500 unemployed youth belonging to the districts would be given cheques of the allowance for the months of May, June and July at the function organised for initiating the distribution of checks across the state. An official spokesperson said, the amount will be deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries later.Under the scheme, unemployment allowance of 1000 rupees per month will be given to unemployed youth in the age group of 25-40 years who have a minimum qualification of High School.AIR correspondent reports that more than 4 lakh 40 thousand youth have applied for the allowance and about 90,000 were found eligible. The government has planned to pay around nine lakh people and had made a provision of 697 crore 27 Lakh rupees in the current financial year.
