UP govt slaps Gangster Act against jailed MLA Raja Bhaiya, others

In Uttar Pradesh, the government has slapped the stringent Gangster Act on jailed controversial independent MLA from Kunda Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, Samajwadi Party MLC Akshay Pratap Singh alias Gopalji and two others charged with attempting to murder a candidate in the recent Kshetra Panchayat polls.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that Raja Bhaiya and Gopalji, Samajwadi Party MP Shailendra Kumar, MLA Vinod Saroj and seven others were arrested in Kunda in Pratapgarh on 19th of last month on charges of kidnapping, dacoity, attempt to murder and vandalism on a complaint by local BSP leader. Later, Raja Bhaiya and Gopalji were shifted to Bareilly jail.Meanwhile, local court at Pratapgarh has rejected the bail plea of arrested leaders and their supporters. The main opposition Samajwadi Party has sharply criticized slapping gangster act against party leaders and said it was a vindictive act of the government against opposition.
