UP govt sent an ordinance for setting up special force to protect parks

Uttar Pradesh the state government has now sent an ordinance for setting up a special force to protect parks and memorials named after dalit icons for the assent of state governor. The UP Special Zone Protection Force Bill passed by the state legislature during the budget session for the same is pending with the state Governor for his nod.<br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that amid boycott of opposition parties a bill was passed for raising a special force to provide security to the 10 memorials, parks and statues of Dalit icons built by the Mayawati government in the state capital Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar districts. This force is estimated to incur an expenditure of around 14 crore rupees annually. <br/><br/>These parks and memorials including Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal, Dr Ambedkhar Vihar, Samajik Parivartan Pratik Sthal, Manywar Kanshiramji Smarak Sthal, 13 Mall Avenue, Manyawar Kanshiram Ji Harit(environment) Park, Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan, Gautam Buddha Samta Mulak Sthal( Gautam Buddha Nagar), Buddha Vihar Shanti Upvan and Smriti Upvan are identified as special zones in the bill. It is said that on the delay in giving assent to the Bill that it is under the consideration of the Governor.<br/><br/>Sources in the government, however, said that the ordinance has been sent as the clearance to the bill might take some time.<br/><br/>Meanwhile state Congress Committee has lodged a strong protest over the Mayawati government's effort to bring an ordinance for the said purpose.<br/><br/>In a statement issued in Lucknow Party has said that it proves that the state government has no regards for the constitutional norms. Party has demanded that the Governor should not give his assent to the Ordinance.<br/><br/>Party has said that when the law and order situation in the state was deteriorating day-by-day and the Dalits, backwards, women and other people were facing crime in their life; the BSP government was only interested in protecting the monuments which had been constructed with public money.
