In Uttar Pradesh the government has announced to rename Lucknow based Manyavar Kanshiramji Urdu, Arbi, Farsi Vishwavidyala. The government has said that it would be renamed after an eminent personality of these languages.Addressing a function organised for releasing a book written by the vice chancellor of the University the state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that University would be renamed after due deliberations after some eminent personality of these languages.Our Allahabad correspondent reports that earlier the government had sent a letter to the University for suggesting names of eminent personalities after whom the university could be renamed. The vice-chancellor has suggested the name of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisthi along with Urdu poet Allama Iqbal, freedom fighter Maulana Abul Kalam Azad to name a few.The University was set up by the previous Mayawati government in 2009 and named after the BSP founder and Dalit leader Kanshiram.At the other hand a senior Minister of Akhilesh Yadav government Shivpal Singh Yadav has said that he would request the state government to rename Lucknow University after former Chief Minister of the state Chandrabhanu Gupta.
