UP govt. recommends CBI probe into Sachan's killing

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to hand over the investigation to CBI into the mysterious death of Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Y. S. Sachan inside the Lucknow district jail on 22nd of last month. This was decided in a high level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati. Dr. Malati Sachan, wife of Dr. Sachan has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking CBI probe into the case and three Public Interest Litigation Petitions,(PILs) were filed in Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court in this regard. These PILs are likely to come up for hearing tomorrow.Meanwhile, the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Lucknow Rajesh Upadhayay has submitted the judicial probe report to the Allahabad High Court Tuesday.Earlier, the opposition parties of the State have demanded for a CBI probe into the case. NHRC and UPHRC and National Commission for Scheduled Castes have issued notices to the state government in this case.
