The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to hand over the case of Dr. Y.S. Sachan to the CBI for investigation. This has been decided in a high power meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati at Lucknow on Wednesday. An official spokesperson told AIR Lucknow correspondent that the Chief Minister has said that according to the demand of the family members of Dr. Sachan, the case should be handed over to CBI for investigation. She said that the state government wants a transparent investigation and does not hide any facts. AIR correspondent reports that petitions seeking CBI probe in the case is likely to come up for hearing on Thursday both in the Supreme Court and the Allahabad High Court. Dr. Sachan was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Lucknow district jail on the 22nd of July.
