The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the authorities to make rigorous efforts for sanitation and control of mosquitoes in view of mounting brain fever death toll, the state’s Chief Secretary Anup Kumar Mishra on Saturday visited BRD Medical College and District Hospital in Gorakhpur and took stock of the situation. The toll due to encephalitis has mounted to 329 in the region this year as seven more patients have succumbed to deadly disease in past twenty four hours.AIR Gorakhpur correspondent says that cases of Japanese Encephalitis, Dengue and Malaria have been reported from Varanasi, Allahabad and Lucknow also.The scenario in the district hospital and Medical College here is very painful as while the kins are carrying out the dead bodies of patients, more patients are being admitted. Chief Secratary Anup Kumar Mishra on Saturday visited the hospitals where two to three encephalitis patients are being treated on a single bed. Even neo-natal and Intensive Children Care Unit is overflowing with encephalitis patients. Chief Secretary assured the wards of patients that there will be no dearht of resources to combat the disease. A separate 100 bed ward is being earmarked exclusively for encephalitis patients.
