In Uttar Pradesh, the government has enhanced land compensation rates by 580 per square metre also for Agra farmers. It was announced by cabinet secretary of the state Shashank Shekhar Singh last night at Agra after discussion with a group of agitated farmers. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that cabinet secretary also announced a family member of those farmers who have given their entire land for Yamuna Express Way project will be given employment by JP Group. He said enhanced compensation will be distributed to the farmers by organising camps in affected villages in the district. He also announced farmers will also be given the proper compensation for crops, trees, boring and well situated in the land of farmers according to rules. Besides, cases on two persons would be withdrawn. It is said that most of the farmers are not ready to accept the enhanced rate of compensation and they are demanding the rates should be given as per the rates already given to the Noida and Greater Noida farmers. Agitated farmers have also announced that they are not ready to give lands for High Tech Township. Dharna of farmers is still continuing at Etmadpur area in the district. At the other hand in Aligarh district police released another farmer Kallu who was arrested in Tappal area in agitation. Dharna of famers is still continuing and they have set up a 61 member committee to chalk out their strategy. Famers have announced they would not accept less compensation as it was given to Noida farmers. Agitated farmers are reorganising their strength under leadership of Bharatiya Kisan Union of Mahendra Singh Tikait. He is expected Mr. Tikait will visit the Dharna site tomorrow at address the farmers. Meanwhile, farmers from some several districts of western region of the state including Firozabad, Meerut and Moradabad too held protest against the government over land acquisition issues. In Moradabad, agitated farmers accused the state government of doling out 45 hectares of agricultural land to a multi-national company and a private developer.
