In Uttar Pradesh the state government has fixed target of 25 lakh Metric Tone for procurement of paddy in the current season under price support system. An official spokes person has told AIR Lucknow correspondent that 3000 purchase centers will be set up for procurement for kharif year in the year 2011-12. It has been decided by the state cabinet in its meeting chaired by chief minister Mayawati. The government has decided that common grade paddy would be purchased at the rate of 1,080 rupees per quintal while grade A paddy would be purchased at a minimum support price of 1,110 rupees per quintal directly from the farmers. Purchase will be done through purchase centers from next month to February 28 next year.
