UP govt directed to take decisions on release of around 600 prisoners

In Uttar Pradesh, the Allahabad High Court directed the Secretary of the State legal Services Authority to make available effective legal services to the 585 convicted prisoners lodged in different jails for the last 14 years. <br/> <br/>A bench comprising Justices Amar Saran and S C Nigam, monitoring the release of prisoners, has directed the state government and competent officers to take decisions on pre-mature release of prisoners who have completed more than 14 years and submit it to the Court. <br/> <br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports, that the state government has prepared a list of 585 prisoners who have completed 14 years to 32 years of imprisonment and there is no one for their advocacy. <br/><br/>The court has fixed 12th of next month for next hearing of the matter.<br/>
