UP Govt. benefiting builders and colonizers: Rahul Gandhi

In Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s Padyatra to understand the grievances of farmers on land acquisition and other issues directly from them continues for the fourth day today. Rahul Gandhi reiterated that the UP government is benefiting the builders and colonizers rather than the farmers. He said the land acquisition policies should be framed after taking the farmers into confidence. Mr. Gandhi assured the farmers in Aligarh that the Land Acquisition Bill prepared by the centre will be in favour of farmers. He had resumed the yatra this morning after an overnight stay in an Aligarh village. Rahul Gandhi held several small meetings or Kisan Panchayats in several villages along the Gautam Buddha Nagar to Aligarh route. The Padyatra would traverse the Yamuna expressway today covering the nearby villages. AIR correspondent reports, the Padyatra went through Gowrala village in Tappal, the epicenter of the farmer’s agitation on the land acquisition issue and will culminate in a Kisan Mahapanchayat in Aligarh on Saturday. Rahul Gandhi has appealed to the villagers to take part in Saturday's Kisan Mahapanchayat at Numaiesh Maidan in Aligarh.
