UP govt beefed up security ahead of Muharram

In Uttar Pradesh elaborate security arrangements have been made with a view to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram beginning from tomorrow. Quoting police sources our Lucknow correspondent reports that the state government has directed the all district civil and police officials that the Tazia and Muharram processions should be allowed only through identified routes. District police chiefs have been asked to alert their subordinate staff in view of the sensitivity and past history in mind. They have also been asked to identify the trouble areas.<br/><br/>Intelligence units have also been alert across the state to ward-off terrorists and anti-national elements from spoiling peace and order. The government has provided additions force including 10 companies of Rapid Action Force and 40 Companies of PAC to sensitive districts like Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Agra, Faizabad, Devi Patan, Mau, and Azamgarh to maintain law and order during this period.<br/><br/> <br/><br/> <br/><br/>
