UP govt asked to compensate factory blast victims' kin

The National Human Rights Commission has recommended a total compensation of 24 lakh rupees to the families of workers who died in a cracker factory explosion in Uttar Pradesh. In an official release issued today, the NHRC asked the Uttar Pradesh government to pay 3 lakh rupees each to the next of kin of the eight workers who died in an explosion in a cracker factory in Saharanpur.<br/><br/>The NHRC says that it is State's obligation to protect the life of the people. It observed that the State must give monetary relief to workers family as it was negligent in protecting human rights of the workers.
