Uttar Pradesh government has appointed Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC as interim consultant to the Lucknow Metro. Quoting official sources AIR Allahabad Correspondent reports that the state cabinet has given its approval for the DMRC appointment. The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation Ltd LMRC is responsible to build and operate a proposed rapid transit system in the state capital. The state government had approved the revised Detailed Project Report last month submitted by DMRC costing about 12500 crore rupees. Our correspondent reports that the proposed metro rail network was planned to consist of two corridors including North-South Amausi airport to Munshi Pulia and East-West from Vasant Kunj to Charbagh Railway Station. Both lines will intersect at Charbagh. An extension line from Indira Nagar – Gomti Nagar – Polytechnic Crossing will extend it to Patrakarpuram in Gomti Nagar area. The North-South corridor connects connecting Amausi airport to Munshipulia will cover a distance of 23 km. This corridor will have a total 21 stations including 15 overhead and six underground. The East-including seven underground and five overhead. There is also West corridor has a total length of 11 km. This corridor will have 12 stations a proposal to start a Bus Rapid Transit System BRTS as a feeder service to the metro. In the month of June this year the state cabinet headed by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav gave clearance to the metro rail network.
