Uttar Pradesh government today announced 'Samajwadi Pension Scheme', aimed at benefiting about 40 lakh families in the state. The State Chief Secretary AlokRanjan told reporters in Lucknow that nearly 40 lakh families will benefit from the scheme and a sum of Rs 500 will be transfered in the bank accounts ofhead of these families every month. He said that the scheme is biggest ever social security scheme in the country, under which 40 lakh families including 12 lakh SC/ST, 10 lakh minority families and 18 lakh OBC families would benefit. Ranjan further informed that July 15 is the last date of application for availing this scheme, after which applications would be verified.
