In Uttar Pradesh the government announced to provide financial help of one lakh rupees each to next of kins died in the incident of boat capsize in the river Ganga at Ballia district this morning. <br/><br/>Expressing grief over the incident, the Chief Minister Mayawati directed officials to continue rescue and relief operations in an effective manner. <br/><br/>AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the at least 12 persons including 10 women were killed when the boat capsized carrying nearly 100 residents of several adjoining villages who were performing a religious ritual on the boat while crossing the river. <br/><br/>Nearly 70 swam to safety and 10 are admitted in district hospital for treatment. Senior civil and police officials including divisional commissioner and DIG Police Range are monitoring relief and rescue operation as local residents claimed that many are still missing.
