In Uttar Pradesh, the government has released 26,681 under trials from down trodden sections of the society, who were unable to move their bail applications to the court due to lack of resources. They were detained under various bailable sections of the IPC and CrPC. The government has also released 574 convicted prisoners who have completed half of their jail terms. Most of them are ill, old age and poor.
