In UP, the flood situation in terai and eastern districts remains grim as all the major rivers and their tributaries are flowing above the danger mark. The river Ghaghra is flowing above the danger mark in Barabanki, Faizabad, Gonda and Basti while the river Ganga is in spate in Allahabad, Varanasi and Ballia. Our Gorakhpur correspondent reports that the rescue and relief work has been speeded up by the concerned district administrations.Our correspondent reports that additional boats have been pressed into service in the affected 200 villages of Barabanki, Faizabad, Basti and other districts. Flood companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary have been deployed in the affected areas to evacuate the stranded people. Food and essential items are being supplied to the marooned people. Three houses have been washed away in Rudauli tehsil of Faizabad district. Ghats of Ganga in Varanasi have been submerged in the flood water. Rain has lashed several districts of central UP during past 24 hours.
