In Uttar Pradesh, a target of 40 lakh tones has been fixed for wheat purchase in current financial year. A total of 4634 purchase centers have been set up across the sate to purchase the wheat from farmers directly.Chief Secretary of the state Anup Mishra has directed officials to make wheat purchase centers more active so that farmers sell their produce in better price. He has said that problems like transportation and storage should be solved on priority basis. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that around 3.30 lakh tones of wheat have been purchased in the state till now.
