In Uttar Pradesh a Panchayat of farmers is being organised on Friday at Tappal in Aligarh to decide about the future course of action for their agitation. Bharatiya Kisan Union lead by farmer's leader Mahendra Singh Tikait extended its support to the farmers at Aligarh and Agra protesting over hike in compensation for land acquired for Yamuna Expressway and township. A spokesperson of BKU told AIR correspondent the BKU president Mahendra Singh Tikait will address the Panchayat. He said final decision will be taken by a 61 member committee of agitated farmers about their agitation. He said compensation being given to the farmers for their land acquired for Yamuna Expressway Project and townships is not reasonable. He said there should be no parity in compensation distributed among farmers from NOIDA to Agra. Similarly in Agra farmers are still on Dharna at Etmadpur area. The state government has announced hike the rate of compensation in Agra and Aligarh by 121 rupees per sq meter on the acquired land of Yamuna Expressway. Now the farmers of Agra would get 580 rupees per square metre and they will also be given proper compensation for crops, trees, boring, well among other things situated at their lands. In Agra 21 checks of compensation of 3 crore 68 lakhs rupees has been distributed to the farmers after an agreement between government and a group of farmers for enhancement of compensation rate. Different political parties including Congress and Rashtriya Lok Dal have also announced to organise rally in the support of demands of farmers.
