Intense Campaigning is going on for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections. Leaders from different political parties addressed several meetings mainly in areas where polling is going to be held on 8th and 11th February. Meanwhile, the Bahujan Samaj party sent a formal letter to the Election Commission today regarding cancellation of nomination of party candidate Nahid Munnawar Hasan from Gangoha assembly constituency in Saharanpur district. Our correspondent reports, Mr.Hasan's name figured in a TV sting operation related to allegedly using malpractices in the elections. Recently a TV channel showed that at least eleven candidates from different political parties were allegedly seeking money to fund their elections. The election commission had also requested the party heads of related candidates to take action against them. Political leaders from all major parties are making all efforts to reach maximum number of voters. Addressing an election rally in Ambedakar nagar today BSP supremo and Chief Minister Mayawati said her party has done significant development work in the state. The Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Lokdal President Mr Ajit Singh jointly addressed a political rally in Meerut district today. Mr. Gandhi said, that UP has been ignored by opposition parties for the last two decades. Addressing the gathering the RLD leader Mr Ajit Singh appealed to people to vote for RLD congress candidates. The Samajwadi Party chief also addressed rallies in Gorakhpur and Maharajganj districts promising to implement all schemes and plan announced in the party Manifesto. BJP president Nitin Gadkari alleged that both the Centre and state governments are involved in corruption cases, he addressed a rally in faizabad district today. Bihar Chief Minster and JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar also addressed three rallies in Ballia district today. In ballia, JD (U) candidates are contesting on all seven assembly segments. Meanwhile, the nomination process for the sixth phase of assembly election also began today. 68 assembly constituencies of thirteen districts are going to vote on the 28th February in this phase. The scrutiny of nomination filed for fourth phase polls was also completed today. The Last date for withdrawal of nomination for fourth phase is 4th February, the filling of nomination for fifth phase is continuing and the last date for the filing nomination for this phase is also on fourth February.
