In UP, the filing of nomination papers for fifth and sixth phase is going on in 26 districts of central, western and Bundelkhand regions of the state. A total of 117 assembly constituencies will go to poll in these two phases on 23rd and 28th of this month. The last date for filing nomination for fifth phase ends tomorrow while the nomination for sixth phase can be filed up to 9th February.Meanwhile, the election commission has made arrangement to get election trends through SMS. Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Anita Meshram said that the returning officers will SMS the voting trend in every two hours to the commission. The information will be compiled at the headquarters and made available on Commission’s website.Intense campaigning is going on in 114 assembly segments of central and eastern UP where elections will be held in first and second phases on the 8th and 10th of this month respectively.BSP Chief Mayawati asked votes for her party candidates in Ambedkarnagar while Samajwadi Party State Unit Chief Akhilesh Yadav addressed election rallies in Balrampur and Mahrajganj.Congress MP Rajbabbar, BSP general secretary Satish Mishra and BJP’s former Preident Rajnath Singh also held several election rallies in these areas on Thursday.
