UP elections: 6th phase nomination process begins

In Uttar Pradesh, the nomination process for the sixth phase of assembly election began today. 68 assembly constituencies are going to poll on 28th February in this phase. These constituencies are spread over 13 districts of western region.The scrutiny of nomination filed in fourth phase will be done today. Last date for withdrawal of nomination in fourth phase is 4th February.Meanwhile the filling of nomination for fifth phase is also continuing. The candidate can file their nominations up to Saturday for this phase. So, far 271 candidates have filed their nomination papers in the fifth phase. Polling for this phase will be held on 23rd of this month.AIR Correspondent reports that aggressive campaigning is on in 114 assembly areas that are going to polls in first and second phases. Congress President Ms Sonia Gandhi held two election rallies in Gonda and Deoria yesterday while Chief Minister Ms Mayawati addressed a rally in Sitapur district.Meanwhile FIR has been lodged against a BSP candidate from Ghazipur for allegedly possessing literature of provocative nature.
