In Uttar Pradesh a total of 1045 nomination papers have been found valid filed in 56 constituencies for phase four Assembly elections. February 4 is last date for withdrawal of papers. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that the election commission has said that the helicopter surveillance would be carried out in Naxal-affected districts during polling. While reviewing poll preparedness at Varanasi for phase two and three elections in 14 districts of Azamgarh, Varanasi , Allahabad and Vindhyachal Dham divisions the Deputy Election Commissioner Dr. Alok Shukla directed for the deployment of Central Para Military forces at the sensitive polling booths. He said that special vigil should be maintained in the districts bordering with the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.The first phase of assembly polls are just a few days away and the top leaders of different political parties are addressing election meetings in the different constituencies. A total of 867 candidates are in the fray for 55 assembly seats for the first phase of elections where polling would be held on February 8. A total of 1099 candidates are in the fray for 59 assembly seats in phase two polling, where election would be held on February 11 while for the third phase 1021 candidates are in the fray for 56 seats where polling would be held on February 15.
