UP: EC replaces several District Magistrates, District Police Chiefs & DIGs in view of LS polls

In Uttar Pradesh the Election Commission has replaced several District Magistrates, District Police Chiefs and DIGs in view of Lok Sabha polls after receiving complaints against them from different political parties of the state. Quoting official sources AIR correspondent reports that in several districts both District Magistrate and District Police Chiefs have been replaced. It includes Pratapgarh, Rampur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Bahraich, Etah, Sant Ravidas Nagar Bhadohi, Gonda and Mau.

22 district magistrates have been replaced in this reshuffle. Affected districts are Deoria, Mahoba, Mau, Meerut, Sambhal, Sant Ravi Das Nagar Bhadohi, Sonebhadra, Amroha, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Gonda, Etah, Mainpuri, Rampur, Pratapgarh, Firozabad, Lalitpur, Kaushambi, Bahraich Maharajganj, Banda and Shahjahanpur.

AIR correspondent reports that 19 district police chiefs including Allahabad, Sultanpur, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Farrukhabad, Siddharthnagar Jaunpur and Fatehpur and DIGs of three ranges including Jhansi, Banda and Gonda have also been replaced.

AIR Correspondent reports that during recent visit of the Chief Election Commissioner and other two Election Commissioners to Lucknow representatives of different political parties had lodged their complaints against the officers for their partial working in the favour of ruling party.
