The Uttar Pradesh government has directed the excise department to launch a crackdown against people involved in spurious liquor trade in the state. Excise Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui directed the officials during a review meeting Continuous raids should be conducted against thoseInvolved in the trade of spurious liquor and effective action should be taken against liquor mafia with the help of police. The minister also directed to maintain special vigil on the borders and to constitute teams to check supply of illicit liquor. Principal Secretary Netram said that till July month action was taken against 36,162 people and 5.09 lakh litre illicit liquor was seized.
