UP death toll reaches to 19 in two separate train accidents

In Uttar Pradesh death toll reached to 19 of Indo Tibetan Border Police Force ITBP job seekers in two separate train accidents near Shahjahanpur and Hardoi districts. About 15 seriously injured are still admitted in hospitals. District Police Chief Shahjahanpur Akhilesh Kumar told AIR Lucknow correspondent that most of the deceased were from Uttar Pradesh and few from Bihar and West Bengal. He said situation at the district has become normal and movement of trains is also not disrupted. He said accident happened at Rosa railway station when ITBP aspirants were returning after postponement of recruitment. Large numbers of aspirants were boarded at Howrah bound Himgiri express and several were on its roof top. They were hit against foot over bridge at station. Some of them fell from the train's top receiving serious injuries. Agitated youths also set on fire three AC coaches of the train but all passengers travelling in the coaches were unhurt. He said large numbers of security forces are deployed at railway station to maintain peace. Another ITBP job-seeker died when he fell down from the Triveni Express in Hardoi district. He said Identity of the 12 youths killed in accidents has been ascertained. Railways had run two special trains last night from Lucknow to clear the rush. The state government blamed ITBP officials for the rampage by paramilitary aspirants. An official spokes person has told at Lucknow that there was no coordination with the district administration and poor management at the camp. In a statement, the ITBP has said the force's DIG at Bareilly had duly informed the District Magistrate on January 17 about the recruitment drive.
