The Congress has said that, it would continue its attempts to contact farmers to get their feed back for preparing a better and effective land acquisition bill likely to be brought in the monsoon session of parliament. Talking to media persons this evening at Lucknow, party National general secretary Digvijay Singh said that Rahul Gandhi has restarted its campaign for meeting farmers from Bhatta Parsaul villages in Gautam Buddha Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh the epicentre of farmers' protests in May over land acquisition. He said it was unfortunate that the BSP government in the state has not implemented its new land acquisition and rehabilitation act in the areas where the problem is prevailing over land acquisition. He alleged that the state government was only obliging capitalists and builders and ignoring interests of farmers. Our Lucknow correspondent reports that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi surprisingly visited several villages of Gautam Buddha Nagar today and met farmers agitated over the land acquisition issue. He alleged that farmers up to Agra are forced to surrender their land to private developers on minimal prices . Rahul announced that he will go to all villages to ascertain the farmer's views on the new land acquisition policy of the state government. Meanwhile the Bharatiya Janata Party and the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party in the state have sharply criticised Rahul Gandhi's visits to aggrieved farmers on the Land Acquisition issue.
