Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that the people of the state have shown the door to divisive and communal forces.
He was talking to media persons in Lucknow after party retained the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat and wrested eight assembly seats from BJP. He said People of the state have expressed their intention that they need harmony and brotherhood.
Thanking the people of the state, for what he said failing the communal powers, Akhilesh said the Samajwadi Party government in the state concentrates only on developmental works and would continue to work more responsibly.
State BJP chief Laxmikant Vajpayee has said that his party accepts the people's verdict. He however said that ruling dispensation was successful in polarising the votes in its favour.
He said that BJP will analyse the reasons of the defeat.?
Meanwhile, Congress says by-poll results are a negative signal for BJP and a positive indication for secular parties.
Party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmad today said people have rejected BJP’s divisive politics.
He said it is, perhaps, for the first time that a government is facing anti-incumbency within hundred days of its rule.
On the issue of seat-sharing for upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, between Congress and NCP, the spokesperson expressed confidence that an amicable solution would be arrived at soon.
