UP CM sacks 36 Minister-rank leaders after LS polls debacle

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today sacked 36 Minister rank functionaries after his Samajwadi Party's rout in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

The list of such Minister rank leaders was issued by Chief Minister office in Lucknow which included five Cabinet rank and 31 Minister of State rank leaders.

All the removed leaders were Corporation Heads and Deputy Chairmen in various government set ups.

For the Samajwadi Party's worst-ever performance in the state, this is first axe which has fallen on the 36 of 88 ministerial rank leaders found to have worked against the party.

Asked whether he would take a cue from Nitish Kumar, who resigned as Bihar chief minister taking responsibility for his party's rout, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that one should not compare UP's political situation to that of any other state.

AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that Narendra Bhati, Surendra Mohan Agrawal, Satish Chandra Dixit, Anuradha Cahudhary and Sahab Singh Saini are cabinet minister rank functionaries who have been removed by the party.

Rest of the removed corporation heads are the of minister of state rank leaders.

The ruling Samajwadi Party could win just five seats out of eighty in the state.
