UP: CM Mayawati sacks Secondary Education Minister Rangnath Mishra

In Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister Mayawati today removed Secondary Education Minister Rangnath Mishra and Labour Minister Badshah Singh from her Cabinet in view of graft charges against them. An official spokesperson told AIR Correspondent that Mayawati has handed over investigation into the charges of corruption against Rangnath Mishra, Badshah Singh and former Animal Husbandry Minister Awadhpal Singh Yadav to Vigilance Commissioner of the state. All the three are indicted by the Lokayukta.The Lokayukta, Justice Mehrotra had yesterday recommended removal of Secondary Education Minister Rangnath Mishra from the post and CBI or Vigilance Commissioner's inquiry against him for alleged misuse of MLA fund and making illegal appointments in secondary schools after taking bribes. The Lokayukta has also recommended lodging criminal cases against him for his involvement in illegal activities and land grabbing.Inquiry against three Ministers including Badshah Singh, Narayan Singh and Subhash Pandey is in progress. More than half a dozen MLAs from ruling party are also facing inquiry by the Lokayukta.
