UP CM Akhilesh Yadav rules out FDI in retail sector

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has ruled out Foreign Direct Investment, FDI, in retail sector. He said that permission of FDI in retail sector will adversely affect the interests of small traders. He announced the stand of his government while addressing a gathering of businessmen in Lucknow yesterday.The Chief Minister said that any decision regarding FDI will be taken only after consultation with business fraternity. He assured the business community that his government will give its best to facilitate the traders to flourish which will boost the state economy as well.The Chief Minister also announced that all trade tax related work will be facilitated online for the traders from January 2013. He said that he will consider declaring September 3 as Traders Day in the state. He also announced the enhancement of accident insurance for traders from four to five lakh rupees.
