In Uttar Pradesh, nomination process for first two phases of local bodies elections have been completed.A total of 1964 candidates are left in fray for first phase of elections for Mayors of Municipal Corporations and Chairmen of Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayts. June 11 is last date for withdrawal for phase two elections.AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that poling for phase one will be held on 24th of this month for four Municipal Corporations of Lucknow, Varanasi, Moradabad and Meerut and 42 Nagar Palika Parishad and 95 Nagar Panchayats spread over 18 districts.In view of several competitive examinations, the State Election Commission has pre-poned the polling for Lucknow Municipal Corporation for one day. In Lucknow, polling will be held on June 23. A total of 63 candidates are in contest for the posts of four Mayoral posts while 659 are in fray for the posts of Chairmen of Nagar Palika Parishad and 1242 for Nagar Panchayats`s Chairmen posts. A total of 16 thousand 97 seven candidates are in fray for the posts of 2,583 wards members.Scrutiny of papers for second phase of elections have been completed. Five Municipal Corporations, including Agra, Allahabad, Kanpur, Gorakhpur and Bareilly and Nagar Palika Parishad and Nagar Panchayats, spread over 17 districts, will go for poll in this phase of elections on June 27.A total of 1,816 candidates have filed nominations for Mayoral and Chairmen of Nagar Palika and Nagar Panchayat`s posts while 12,959 nominations have been filed for 3,039 ward members elections. Nominations for phase three and four are in progress.
