In the Pipraich Assembly by poll in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party candidate Rajmati Nishad defeated her nearest rival Jitendra alias Pappu Jaiswal, Independent by a margin of over 26,600 votes. The election was necessitated due to death of BSP MLA Jamuna Prasad Nishad in a road accident in November last year.
