UP assembly rejects BJP’s demand for reconsideration of resolution passed against Lokayukta

In Uttar Pradesh, the state assembly rejected the BJP demand for reconsideration of the resolution passed last week against the Lokayukta interfering in matters pertaining to legislature. The resolution had opposed suggestion of the Lokayukta to amend laws and guidelines pertaining to the development fund for legislators. Raising the issue in the House, BJP member Om Prakash Singh said the passing of the resolution had sent a wrong message. Congress Legislature Party leader Pramod Tiwari, opposed the BJP saying once the resolution has been passed, it cannot be questioned. Speaker Sukhdeo Rajbhar said the House had passed the resolution unanimously and it did not curtail powers of the Lokayukta.
