UP Assembly passes resolution to split state, adjourned sine die

Uttar Pradesh assembly has passed the resolution for division of the state in four new states, with voice vote. Both the Houses of the State legislature adjourned sine die amidst noisy scenes by the Opposition members.Our Lucknow correspondent reports that amid strong protest from the entire opposition, the resolution was moved by Chief Minister Mayawati. She denied the allegations of opposition parties who termed the resolution a political stunt.
