In Uttar Pradesh, the Assembly election process begins from 12th of this month with the notification for elections in the 55 constituencies spread over 10 districts.The districts are Sitapur, Baharaich, Shrawasti, Barabanki, Gonda, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Faizabad, Basti and Ambedkar Nagar. Polling will be held in these constituencies on 8th of next month.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the Election Commission has rescheduled the dates of the first phase elections, February 4, in view of coincidence with Barawafat, the Prophet's birth anniversary.With the change in dates, now the February 4 phase in which in 60 constituencies of 10 district including Pilibhit, Rampur, Bareilly, Kheri, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Moradabad, Bijnore, Bhim Nagar and Jyotiba Phule Nagar, has been deferred.Election Commission sources said that elections in these seats will likely be held in the first week of March.Meanwhile, the Election Commission has directed the concerned District Election Officer to submit a report on covering of the each and every statue of elephant and BSP supremo Mayawati, built in the state with public money, in public places by 11th of this month.The Commission has said that the expense for covering the statues will be borne by the local authorities under whose jurisdiction the various statues have been erected.
