The Uttar Pradesh government has announced paddy Purchase policy (dhhan karay neeti) under centre’s price support scheme ( Mulya samarthan Yojana ) for the Kharif season 2011 -12. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Mayawati in Lucknow on Wednesday. According to paddy purchase policy, paddy of common grade will be procured by the procurement agencies at the rate of 1080 rupees per quintal while paddy of Grade -A -category, will be procured at the minimum support price of one thousand one hundred and ten rupees per quintal (Rs 1110 /per quintal ).Paddy will be purchased directly from the farmers. The state government has said that the procurement period will be from 1st October (2011) to 28 th February 2012. The state government said that the total quantity of paddy brought by farmers till 28th February will be procured by the agencies. For the kharif year 2011-12 the state has fixed paddy procurement target of 25 lakh metric tonnes.
