UP: Akhilesh Yadav holds meeting, majority of MLAs attend

?In Uttar Pradesh, setting the stage for a show of strength, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who was expelled from Samajwadi Party by his father and SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, today held a meeting at his residence where a majority of the 229 party MLAs were present. Though the exact number of those present at the meeting was not immediately known, insiders maintained that a majority of the 229 SP MLAs were present. <br/><br/>Besides, some SP MLCs and senior party functionaries loyal to Akhilesh attended the meeting. Shortly after the meeting Akhilesh Yadav reached to meet Mulayam Singh at his residence at Vikramaditya Marg. <br/><br/>In another important development senior minister Azam Khan first met Mulayam SIngh at his residence and afterwards went to meet CM Akhilesh Yadav. Meanwhile, the parliamentary meet of Mulayam Singh which was scheduled to begin at 10.30 at the party Head Quarter has now been postponed till 1.00 PM. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the outcome of the meeting between Akhilesh and Mulayam may decide the future of ruling Samajwadi Party.

Though the exact number of those present at the meeting was not immediately known, insiders maintained that a majority of the 229 SP MLAs were present. Besides, some SP MLCs and senior party functionaries loyal to Akhilesh attended the meeting.<br/>On the other hand, Over a dozen MLAs and various party leaders have also reached Samajwadi Party Head Quarters where Mr Mulayam Singh has convened a Parliamentary Board meeting of the party along with his recently declared candidates. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that followers of Mr Akhilesh Yadav have gathered in front of his residence in huge numbers and are fiercely raising slogans for their leader. The district administration has made tight security arrangements to avert any untoward situation. Now the ruling party has clearly split into two as senior leaders have also started taking sides openly. However there is dilemma for those who found place in the lists of both Mr Akhilesh and Mr Mulayam and most of them have already reached at Chief Minister's residence.
