In Uttar Pradesh, nine cops, including three sub-inspectors, were suspended and around 21 other policemen of the Lucknow Crime Branch were sent to the police lines for carrying out a raid on Friday, allegedly to extort money from a Gutkha trader in the city.
In a late night action yesterday, the senior superintendent of police, J Ravinder Goud dismantled the entire crime branch, barring additional superintendent of police (crime) RK Singh.
The paan masala trader, Om Narain Singh, had on Saturday approached the ADG alleging that nearly nine crime branch sleuths in plain clothes raided his factory. The crime branch sleuths allegedly took away 10 lakh rupees from the trader’s factory.
