UP: 2nd FIR lodged against Amit Shah for his alleged hate speeches in Shamli district

In Uttar Pradesh, second FIR has been lodged against BJP leader Amit Shah for his alleged hate speeches at Shamli in Muzaffarnagar district. District Police chief Anil Rai told our correspondent that the FIR was lodged against Shah at Adarsh Nagar Police Station in Shamli district yesterday.

Earlier, the first FIR was lodged yesterday at Kotwali Police Station in Bijnore district under Representation of the People Act and different clauses of the IPC.

Returning officer of the Bijnore Lok Sabha Constituency, Bhawani Singh told our Correspondent that the FIR was lodged after reviewing the video tapes of the speech made by Shah on April 4 while addressing BJP workers.

He said, Shah has been charged for making an inflammatory speech causing tension between two different groups of the society and to hurt the sentiments of others.

Meanwhile, BJP has termed the filing of FIRs against Shah as vindictive. Briefing reporters in New Delhi yesterday, party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that Samajwadi Party led Uttar Pradesh government has acted against Shah for the polarisation of votes.

Congress has alleged that BJP is trying to divide the country on communal lines to muster power at the Centre. Briefing reporters in New Delhi yesterday, party spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi termed its defence of Amit Shah's revenge remark in Uttar Pradesh as justification of communalism.
