The UN Security Council has condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh yesterday, which killed at least 16 people. In a press statement issued late yesterday, the Security Council members said that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable. Earlier, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, in a statement issued by his spokesman, said that he is appalled by the bombing in Marrakesh which killed and injured Moroccans and foreign nationals. The Secretary-General reiterated his firm rejection of the use of indiscriminate violence against innocent civilians and maintained that no political objective is served by such heinous acts. Meanwhile, the Moroccan government said the Al Qaeda terror network is among the suspects in the bomb attack. Communications Minister Khalid Naciri said investigators will pursue all leads including possible links to the Al Qaeda's regional offshoot, Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, which is active in countries in the region.
