The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos has said that a humanitarian mission from the UN will go to Syria this weekend to assess the humanitarian situation in that country. Talking to reporters, she said that the visit would begin from tomorrow and could last for three to four days.Meanwhile, Western powers in the UN Security Council, UNSC, on Friday said that they were planning to draft a resolution seeking sanctions against Syria. The UNSC was also briefed in a closed door session on the latest situation in Syria where about 2,000 people have been killed in the last five months.
